What the Urban Development Directorate actually does
The Directorate, under the Urban Development Department of Uttarakhand, handles litigation for urban local bodies. Files cover municipal administration, service and establishment matters, environment, solid waste, sanitation, municipal laws, contracts and taxation.
Those cases sit before the Supreme Court, the High Court of Uttarakhand, the National Green Tribunal and other forums. This hire is a support lawyer for that docket, not a municipal clerk post.
What kind of role this Uttarakhand UDD legal expert 2026 seat is
One Legal Expert on contract. First term is one year. Extension needs satisfactory work, a continued need, and approval of the competent authority. The TOR says the contract does not give a right to regular appointment, absorption, or other government-service benefits.
Pay is a fixed Rs 75,000 a month. The cover letter also prints 75,000 and marks it fixed. An older September window on the same department site closed on 22 September 2026. This page is only the 23 September notice that closes on 14 October 2026.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if you have an LL.B. from a recognised university, 10 years of practice, consultancy or advisory work after that degree, and at least 3 years of matters before a High Court. You need working Hindi, English and computer use. LL.M., or extra study in constitutional, administrative, environmental, service or municipal law, is preferred. Bar Council enrolment is required where the work needs it.
Skip if you are a final-year student, you have less than 10 years after LL.B., or you have never appeared in High Court matters. The experience should preferably cover at least two of: service law, environmental or NGT work, and municipal or administrative law.
