What NALSA actually does
National Legal Services Authority is the statutory apex body under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. It sits with the Supreme Court complex in New Delhi and works with State Legal Services Authorities on free legal aid, lok adalats and legal-awareness work. This circular is for staff posts at that New Delhi office, not for a panel of legal-aid lawyers.
What kind of role this NALSA deputation recruitment 2026 is
This is deputation, not an open exam and not a permanent direct recruit seat. You must already be an officer or official under the Central Government, a State Government, a Union Territory, an autonomous body or a statutory body. The appointment is initially for three years, extendable if work is satisfactory, on usual deputation terms. Pay follows the 7th Central Pay Commission rates notified by the Central Government. If the parent office needs you back early, NALSA can return you after at least three months’ notice to the lending office and to you.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply only if your parent office can spare you now, you hold an analogous post or the feeder level printed for that row, and you have the degree and legal-work years printed for a law post.
Skip if you are a fresh LL.B. student, a private-firm associate, or a retired officer. The circular says fresh candidates, retired officials and persons in the private sector should not apply, and those forms will not be considered. Departmental officers and officials of NALSA itself are also not eligible for this deputation. A Class 12 student can read this page to learn the posts, but cannot apply.
