What Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority actually does
JNPA runs the large port at Sheva, Navi Mumbai. Ships, land, leases, environment clearances and contracts all produce legal files. This seat is for a person who already handles that kind of work inside a company legal team. It is not a first job after LL.B.
What kind of role this JNPA legal expert recruitment 2026 is
One post. Contract for one year from the date of joining. Consolidated pay is INR 1,60,000 per month. The engagement does not give a right to claim a regular appointment, or parity with regular port employees. JNPA can end the contract at any time without notice. If you resign, you give one month’s notice. If you leave without notice, or without acceptance of the notice, the consolidated pay due can be forfeited.
You get the weekly off, closed holidays, national holidays and casual leave that regular officers get, with prior permission. Missed duty cuts wages on a pro-rata basis. Working hours match regular officers, including overstay if the work needs it. You cannot leave headquarters without permission. You cannot take another assignment during the contract. Medical treatment is in the JNPA hospital, for self only, and only for facilities available in-house. Quarters may be given if available, on user charges. Official travel TA/DA follows Annexure II: economy air or AC-II train. You must be medically fit. The Official Secrets Act applies.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if you have a Degree in Law from a recognised national or international university, you are not over 45, and you have 10 years’ work experience in the legal wing of corporates, with a track record in negotiation and drafting, and in-depth work in litigation management, legal drafting, commercial conveyancing, land acquisition and title verification, and regulatory, sectoral and environmental compliance. The notice prefers that this relates to the port and infrastructure sector.
Desirable lines: a Master’s degree in Corporate or Maritime Law; experience in ports and shipping; practising experience as an advocate. A post-graduate degree or diploma in HR management is also listed as desirable on the advertisement.
Skip if you are a fresh graduate, if your 10 years are only court practice and not a corporate legal wing, if you need a permanent government scale, if you cannot be in Navi Mumbai, or if a page asks you to pay to “forward” the JNPA form. No application fee is printed. Travel for the interview is at your cost.
