What FSSAI actually does
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is the statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that sets science-based standards for food and regulates manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import so that food sold in India is safe.
What kind of role this is
These are pure contract seats in the Legal Cell at FSSAI headquarters, New Delhi. Initial tenure is one year and can be extended up to a maximum of three years on the basis of workload and performance. The engagement creates no right to regularisation, absorption, seniority or lien.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if you hold a regular Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a university established under a Central or State Act (or a deemed university / foreign university approved by the Central Government) and you already have at least five full years of experience in legal matters as on 22 October 2026.
Skip if your law degree was obtained through Open University or distance mode — the notice expressly excludes those. Skip also if you are still completing the five-year experience window or if you are above 58 years on the last date.

Eligibility criteria
Regular Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognised university established or incorporated by or under a Central Act or a State Act, or any institution for higher education deemed to be a university by the Central Government, or any other institution or foreign university approved by the Central Government, with not less than five years of experience in legal matters. A degree obtained through Open University / Distance Education mode will not be considered. Maximum age 58 years as on the last date of application.
