APPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor 2026 — apply by 12 Oct

Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission

Added on 6 Oct 2026 by AAG Legal

What the notice says

APPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor 2026 is Advertisement No. 06/2026, No. PSC-R(B)/04/2025, dated Itanagar, 9 September 2026. Online forms opened at 1700 hours on 21 September 2026. Last date — 12 October 2026, before 1700 hours. Apply on appsc.gov.in. Detailed notice — appsc.gov.in PDF.

What a public prosecutor does, in plain words

A public prosecutor stands for the State in a criminal case. The police file the charge-sheet. The prosecutor places that case before the court, questions witnesses, and answers the defence. An Assistant Public Prosecutor usually starts in the magistrate courts. An Assistant Director (Prosecution) is a higher Home Department post. It also needs criminal-court work, or time already spent as a Magistrate of the First Class.

The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) is the state body that runs this exam. It does not appoint you itself. The Home Department is the appointing office. APPSC only selects and recommends.

What kind of seat this is

This is a regular gazetted recruitment under the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, not a contract. The advertisement is the Common Recruitment Examination for Group-A and Group-B, Gazetted (Technical) Posts-2026 (Part-II). The written exam and any recruitment test are in the Itanagar Capital Region. No bond is printed on this notice.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you are a citizen of India, a permanent resident of Arunachal Pradesh, and hold Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) status. You must be able to speak an indigenous tribal language of Arunachal Pradesh, from the list notified by the Government of India. Language-test rules follow Government Notification F.No.AR-33/17/2026-SECT-1-AR (Computer No. 326793) dated 26 August 2026. For the law posts you also need a Bachelor of Law from a recognised university, plus the 7-year experience line for that post, and you must be 21 to 35 on 12 October 2026 (with the APST relaxations below).

Skip if you are not APST, or you are not a permanent resident of Arunachal Pradesh. The notice invites only those two groups. Skip the Finance and Accounts Officer, Treasury Officer and Sub-Treasury Officer rows if you want a law seat. Skip if a website asks for a form fee on WhatsApp or UPI to a personal number. The only fee on this notice is Rs 200 on the APPSC portal. Persons with disability are exempt.
