What the Centre for Research and Planning actually does
The Centre for Research and Planning is the Supreme Court of India’s dedicated policy and research unit. It was set up in 2015. It works on judicial reforms, efficiency of the justice system, jurisprudence, and better use of data. Law students placed here help with research notes, drafting support and project work under CRP officers. This is different from a judge’s chamber clerkship and different from the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee internship already listed on this site.
What kind of role this supreme-court-crp-internship-2026 is
Full-time, physical presence at the CRP offices inside the Supreme Court complex in New Delhi. Minimum four weeks. Office hours are 10:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday and 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays. No remuneration is paid. You cannot take any other assignment (paid or unpaid, part-time or full-time) with any other lawyer or organisation while you are interning. Confidentiality rules continue even after the internship ends.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if you are enrolled in a law degree recognised by the Bar Council of India, you will be in the 4th or 5th year of a five-year course or the 3rd year of a three-year course on the exact dates you want to intern, you are below 28 years of age, and you can stay full-time in New Delhi for at least four weeks without taking other work.
Skip if you are in an earlier year, if you have already appeared for your final exams and are no longer an enrolled student on the internship dates, if you are 28 or older, if you need a stipend, if you cannot be physically present every office day, or if you are looking for a chamber clerkship or legal-aid internship instead.
