CIC internship scheme 2026 — unpaid, law students, Munirka

Central Information Commission

Added on 7 Oct 2026 by AAG Legal

What the notice says

CIC internship scheme 2026 is the Central Information Commission Internship Scheme still hosted on cic.gov.in. The file on that page is the office order dated 31 July 2019, which modifies the 2018 scheme. There is no closing date on the order. Internship is unpaid and runs through the year, subject to the Commission’s requirement. Send a typed form by post or by hand to the Joint Secretary (Law). The PDF is on cic.gov.in.

What the Central Information Commission actually does

The Central Information Commission hears complaints and second appeals under the Right to Information Act, 2005. If a public authority refuses a file, or stays silent, a person can reach the Commission after the steps in the Act. Interns are attached for research. They are not decision-makers.

The office in the scheme is CIC Bhawan, Baba Gangnath Marg, Munirka, New Delhi 110067. The no-objection format in the same PDF names Room No. 512, 2nd Floor, at that address.

What kind of seat this cic internship scheme 2026 is

This is a short attachment, not a job. The scheme says the internship is unpaid. It is available throughout the year, subject to requirement. The minimum period is one month. It shall not exceed six months. You bring your own laptop. The Commission provides working space, internet and other facilities it deems fit. Attendance is on the biometric system.

You tell the Joint Secretary (Law) the topic allotted by the Chief Information Commissioner, an Information Commissioner, or the officer you are attached to, within seven days of joining. At the end you submit a paper with that officer’s recommendation. The Joint Secretary (Law) issues the certificate of successful completion. The paper is the property of the Commission. You may use it for academic work only. An appreciation letter is optional. It is not printed as a right.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you are an Indian citizen and a graduate or postgraduate student enrolled in a recognised university or college, studying law. You need a no-objection certificate from the university or college. The 31 July 2019 order adds a selection rule: interns do research and must submit a paper on the RTI Act, so selection uses rank in an all-India law entrance test. The tests named are CLAT, the Undergraduate Entrance Test of Banaras Hindu University, the LL.B. Common Entrance Test of the University of Delhi, and AILET of National Law University, Delhi. The order says “etc.”, so a similar law-aptitude entrance rank is the idea printed there.

Skip if you are not studying law. The eligibility line is law as a discipline. Skip if your college will not give a no-objection certificate. Skip if you cannot mark biometric attendance in Munirka. Skip if you only want a stipend. None is printed. Skip any agent who asks for money. No fee is printed.
