CAG internship scheme October 2026 — apply by 20 Oct

Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India

Added on 13 Oct 2026 by AAG Legal

What the notice says

CAG internship scheme October 2026 is the Headquarters circular dated 07 July 2026 from the Knowledge and Capacity Building Wing. The live window is 1 October 2026 to 20 October 2026. Apply only on training.cag.gov.in/InternForm.aspx. The circular PDF is on cag.gov.in. This July circular supersedes the 05 May 2026 and 05 June 2026 circulars, and also the older student-internship circulars named in the note.

What the CAG office actually does

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India audits the accounts of the Union and the States. The Headquarters in New Delhi has functional wings. This internship places a student in one of those wings, on an unpaid basis, for project work the wing actually needs.

It is not a coaching seat and it is not a job offer. The circular prints that finishing the internship does not create a right to appointment in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department.

What kind of seat this CAG internship scheme October 2026 is

It is an unpaid internship. Duration printed: at least 4 weeks, not more than 6 months. Place of posting printed: Office of the CAG at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Rajkot. No bond is printed. You carry your own laptop. No category-wise vacancy split is printed on this notice.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you are a bonafide student of a recognised university in India or abroad and you match one printed band. Undergraduate: you have completed or appeared in the term-end exams of the second year / 4th semester, and you have not less than 80% or equivalent in Class 12. Postgraduate, research or PhD: you have completed or appeared in the first year / 2nd semester of the postgraduate programme, or you are pursuing research or a PhD, and you have not less than 60% or equivalent in graduation. Fresh graduates waiting for higher studies: cumulative marks so far are not less than 60%, and the gap between the result month and the internship month is not more than six months.

Skip if you are still in Class 12 or in the first year of a bachelor degree. The undergraduate band starts only after the second year / 4th semester. Skip if your Class 12 marks are below 80% and you are applying on the undergraduate track. Skip if a page asks you to pay a fee for a “CAG intern slot”. No application fee is printed. Skip if you needed a stipend — the circular prints “on unpaid basis”.

Selection

  1. Apply on the official form between the 1st and the 20th.
  2. The Capacity Building Wing maps applications to a functional wing within 10 working days.
  3. The Head of the wing decides.
  4. If too many people apply for one domain, CAG may tighten the cut, limit how many are called, and choose the screening mode.
  5. At joining, original marksheets and a college No Objection Certificate are required. A soft copy of the NOC goes with the form. Carry your own laptop.

How to prepare (free, official)

How to apply without getting played

  1. Open only training.cag.gov.in/InternForm.aspx. Do not mail a PDF to a random address. The July circular moved the route to this form. Older pages that still say “email kcbwing@cag.gov.in” are describing the superseded May route.
  2. Name the domain you can actually work in. If a wing is full, another domain is not a backup you invent later.
  3. Upload the soft copy of the college NOC with the form. Keep original marksheets for joining.
  4. Do not pay anyone. No fee is printed. A certificate comes only if you finish the period that was approved.
